Week Commencing 4th December

During our Geography lessons this week we have been looking at a compass. The children have learnt the four points. ‘North, East, South and West’.

We have learnt a little rhyme to help us remember, ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’. The children then experimented with a compass in the garden.

Puffins have also been labelling a map and looking at what physical and human features are.

Physical features are natural and include: beach, cliff, forest, hill, mountain, sea, river, soil, valley, weather.

Human features show how humans have altered the environment. These features might include buildings, towns, cities, farms, houses and shops.

Puffins loved their music lesson this week. They all enjoyed playing the glockenspiel!
During ERIC the children were given the challenge of picking a different partner and a book to share.
In Science the children enjoyed going on a sensory walk.  They drew what they could smell and hear. We have also been looking at measurements; in particular length. The worked together to carry out an experiment – can children with longer length legs jump further? The children worked in groups to measure their legs and to see how far they could jump.  They then worked with Miss Gordon to put them into length order and distance they jumped.

In PE the children have REALLY enjoyed playing games with the parachute!
