In computing we have been busy Puffins over the last 2 weeks. The children had a go at using the Bee Bots during computing. As a class we looked at how a Bee Bot moves. We discussed the directions using the terms ‘forwards, backwards, left and right’. The children then went outside onto the field as a class and all had a go at following directional instructions. Puffins came back inside and had a go in smaller groups at using the Bee Bots.
In English we have been looking at the structure of a sentence. We went through what makes a good sentence, reminding the children that it needs a capital letter at the beginning, finger spaces between each word and a full stop at the end.
We have also been learning how to label and how to create a list. We listened to the story “The Shopping Basket”. The children then had a go at writing the shopping list using bullet points.
The children have been very excited this week for guided reading as we have been given our very own laptops! The children practised logging on and then worked with Miss Jones to access Phonics Shed through the school website. They loved playing lots of different games especially “Copy along with Joe”.
During maths this week the children have been using Part Part Whole models.
In PSHE, Puffins have been drawing who is in their families. Check out some of their fab work below.
In R.E we have been learning about being thankful and what it looks like. The children then had the opportunity to think of some examples which we then brainstormed.
In Science we have been looking at what animals need in order to grow. We have been looking at where birds live and what they need to live. The children have drawn some fantastic diagrams and labelled using words from a key.
In Golden Time Puffins had a range of activities, games and resources to use. They particularly liked the ‘Tap Tap’ and ‘Construction’. Check out the models some of the children have built.
Well done! I love the logical thinking involved with the Beebots! Keep up the good work in Computing.
