Week commencing 26th February

A huge thank you to all that could come to our Book Breakfast! We hope you enjoyed it as much as the children did. Emily said “I loved it.  I went to the library with my dad”.
Inaara said ” It was good and I got to eat lots of toast”.
During computing the children learnt the key words “Algorithm” and took it in turns to choose a picture tile and to create a programme for the Beebot to reach its destination.

In English, the children have enjoyed listening to the story “Handa’s Surprise”. The have been busy sequencing the story and writing sentences using adjectives. We also got to explore the fruit in class. The children got to pass the fruit around exploring the texture they then wrote down their findings on a white board. After this they got to taste them: pineapple, banana, passion fruit, avocado, orange and mango.

In maths, we have been exploring numbers to 20! The children have been using lots of different resources to represent these numbers which they have also been putting into order.
Music and Poetry basket –  Puffins have enjoyed listening to a new piece of music. They have also enjoyed joining in  with a ‘poetry basket’ session.
During our R.E lesson we have listened to the story of ‘Quaswa the camel’ – a short story about being fair. The children then played a quick game of musical chairs, the children had to move around the chairs fairly when the music stopped they all had to find a seat. The last child was the camel and had to move on.

We have been super busy in our Geography lessons learning all about our local area, the different seasons and different weather types. The children completed some great seasonal collages. They also created their own weather dials.
The children have been learning all about ‘directions’ and ‘algorithms’ in their computing lessons. The children worked in groups to create routes for the Beebots to get to different icons on their mat.
During History the children have been exploring toys from the past. As a class we discussed how toys have changed and the children wrote their own thoughts as a group.
We have also been sorting toys into ‘past’ and ‘present’ groups.
In maths we have been learning all about numbers to 20!!
