A Busy Few Weeks!

During our History lessons Puffins have been learning all about toys from the past. The children watched a video of toys from the past as a class we then went through a selection of toys and compared old to new. The children had the opportunity to play with lots of different toys too such as marbles, slinky and tiddlywinks.
During computing the children have been having a go at planning a route. The children got to use the iPads to program a route. We used directions such as forward, backwards, left and right.

The children had time in their DT lesson to explore a range of toy cars. The also worked on their cutting skills.

Puffins have had a go at writing a letter in the 1st first  person as if they were the character ‘Max’ from the story ‘Where the Wild Things Are’. the children were shown how to use their word books to help them with their writing.

In Science we have been identifying different types of cold weather. The children got to draw a picture of their favourite cold weather. They are now displayed in the classroom.
The children have been busy representing numbers using a range of resources including counters, counting beads and number lines.
Our Puffins love music!!!! They have been learning a new song ‘I am in the groove’. The children also got to create a ‘Rain dance’ in groups.
During R.E this children have been told the story of ‘King Solomon’. We discussed as a class what was fair and unfair about this story. The children got to share decisions they have made or things that have been decided for them. Check out our brainstorm to see what they had to say.

Week Commencing 4th January

Geography – This week in geography the children have been learning all about the weather. We have been looking at the 4 seasons and how the weather changes in each. The children watched a short clip and then had to draw and label the different seasons. Finally, the children got to predict what the weather will be like next week. We can’t wait to see if our predictions are correct!!!
Art – During art this week the children were given the task of drawing a toy from the past.
Mrs Husbands demonstrated how to draw a still life picture and how to colour it using different techniques to create different shades.
History – This week in History the children have been introduced to toys from the past. They got to look and play with each toy. A few children commented on how there was no batteries, buttons, or remotes.
ERIC –  This week in ERIC the children have enjoyed using the torches for flashlight Wednesday. We turned off all of the lights and the children paired off. They could sit anywhere they liked, so many of them decided to crawl underneath the tables.
