Monthly Archives: September 2022

Week Commencing 19th September 2022

Puffins have loved their second PE lesson. They took part in a variety of warm up exercises and games.
During maths the children have been learning all about ‘one more’. The children played a game with their partners and had a go at showing one more that a number using multi link cubes.
In RE the children have learnt all about ‘Christianity’. We talked about different religions and how they have different ways to celebrate the birth of a new baby. We showed the children key parts such as such as the font, the cross and the vicar. The children then watched a short clip which showed us a Christening taking place. After, we asked the children who would like to act out a christening and a few children volunteered. Check out the video to see our baby being baptised.
Puffins have enjoyed ERIC again. They were very excited to kick off their shoes and get comfy on a pillow or beanbag.
Puffins have loved retelling the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ using the characters and props. They have also come up with their own versions of the story.

Week Commencing 12th September 2022

In English this week the children have been looking at the story “We’re going on a bear hunt”. They have been working in their table groups to come up with actions which they have then acted out in front of the class.

Puffins have loved music this week!. We have been listening to a piece of music and we have been trying to find the beat. Check  out the video to see them having a boogie!

The children got to visit the library this week during ERIC. They shared a book with their friend or read independently.
This school year Puffins have been given a reading sack. The children will be given the opportunity to take this bag home to share with their families. Inside the bag you will find a very cute cuddly puffin, a story book and a notebook for you to leave a message for the next reader.
During maths the children have been representing numbers to 10 using counters and a tens frame. They also had fun sorting objects into lots of different ways.
In R.E we have been looking at what it means to “belong”. We had a look at some examples, then the children worked with their talk partners to come up with their own ideas. The children got to share their ideas with the class which we then brainstormed.

Welcome

Welcome back Puffins and a huge warm welcome to Mrs Ville!!
The children looked so grown up in their new uniforms this week and we’ve all enjoyed comparing our new shoes, coats and bags. They have settled well into the classroom getting to know its layout and their new table seats. We have 5 tables labelled the Butterflies, Ladybirds, Dragonflies, Beetles and Snails.
