Today as a reward for our amazing pirate assembly earlier this week, the children and Miss Coghlan and Miss McCaugh had a pirate picnic this afternoon with an extra playtime.
Well done Year 1, Miss Coghlan is very proud of you.

As part of our circle time this week we’re showing how to be good active listener. First we started a discussion on what active listening is.
‘It’s when we look at the person talking’ Imogen
‘When we listen we have to face our friend or teacher’ Maya
‘We have to talk back about what has been said’ Harvey
After we played Chinese whispers to demonstrate good listening skills. Finally we acted out what bad listening looks like in a conversation and what good active listening looks like.
Today the Puffins have been demonstrating their amazing understanding of fractions (halves and quarters) using different representations. Well done Puffins for persevering with this hard work.
We are now finishing our pirate art topic and today discussed the famous pirate artist Howard Pyle. We then moved on to selecting the correct paintbrush to water colour one of his paintings.
Today Puffins children have been learning how to find a quarter of a shape. They were also able to identify when shapes weren’t quarters and state why.
We have all worked very hard this week on pirate art including making collages, analysing famous pirate art and creating our own pirate flags using famous flags as inspirations.
